Abstract

The COVID-19 caused the closure of universities and schools in countries around the world, which led to a rapid replacement of the way of executing training actions. The Caribbean Node of the Red Colombiana para la Internacionalización de la Educación Superiorcarried out a descriptive study, which sought to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the following axes of internationalization: international mobility, internationalization at home and international collaborations. 34 institutions participated in this survey-based study. It is evident that the physical mobility schemes are not operational, and have been replaced by virtual mobility and internationalization at home activities, such as webinars, courses, collaborative online learning, etc. Institutions have trained their staff in the use of technological tools for training actions. International collaborations based on physical mobility are weakening, while others have been strengthened in the framework of virtual mobility and internationalization at home actions, as well as active collaborations in the search for contributions in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. It is a challenge for the surveyed institutions to evaluate the results of the new actions mediated by virtuality.
