Education in in cultural and artistic fields is essential for the comprehensive development of individuals. Its impact extends beyond the mere acquisition of artistic knowledge, becoming particularly relevant in contexts of uncertainty or conflict, where it serves as a vital instrument for fostering resilience and driving social transformation. To examine the role of teachers as artistic mediators and explore university teachers’ perceptions of artistic mediation's influence on developing different skills, as well as its benefits for constructing a more critical, open and inclusive identity, a qualitative study based on in-depth interviews was conducted with fifteen university teachers from Galicia and Porto. The findings suggest that artistic mediation acts as a link between aesthetic experience and the educational environment, while also highlighting limitations such as insufficient resources and time devoted to artistic activities. The value of artistic mediation in initial teacher education is also recognized, and it is concluded that the transformative potential of the arts is fundamental for promoting personal, social and cultural development, particularly in times of change or crisis.
